Animal Research Laboratory Technician Jobs Vacancy in Spiderwort Inc Ottawa Jobs Details:
Spiderwort is a research-based biotechnology company focused on developing biomaterials for regenerative medicine. We are looking for a research lab/animal technician to support the company’s R&D programs.
The position is a full time six-month contract (with possibility of renewal) with an anticipated start date in November 2018.
- Conducting experiments using small animal models
- The project will involve conducting experiments requiring standard biologic techniques.
Education: An MSc in biology/biochemistry or related field. (BSc. with equivalent experience may be considered)
Experience: 1 year working in a research lab environment.
Technical: Strong understanding and familiarity with:
· Animal studies (rat/mouse) and the regulatory procedures involved with them including survival surgery, anesthesia, resection, injection.
· Common cell biology techniques including (cell culture, IHC, microscopy)
· Ability to quickly learn and/or develop new assays to study specific biomaterial characteristics
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Other: The candidate is expected to be able to work independently as well as part of the broader R&D team as well as function in an environment requiring a high-level of adaptability and multitasking.
