A dynamic and rewarding role providing legal administrative support services

The BC Prosecution Service - the Criminal Justice Branch of the Ministry of Attorney General - is responsible for all prosecutions and appeals in this province that fall under the Criminal Code and do not involve the federal prosecution service [the latter focuses primarily on drug offences]. The BC Prosecution Service is also responsible for the prosecution of all provincial regulatory offences.

As a Legal Clerk in this critical department, you will perform a variety of legal support services for Crown Counsel and the public for criminal justice files, and also perform redaction services [entry level] for the purpose of disclosure to defence counsel.

This role requires a high degree of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality. If you have these attributes, along with a keen eye for detail and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal office environment, we look forward to receiving your application.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of experience working in an administrative office environment including reception duties. Prefer three or more years of this experience.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and database systems [i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, etc.].
  • Minimum 40 wpm keyboarding speed.
  • Prefer one or more years of experience working in a legal office environment [i.e. courts, law firm, corrections, police, etc.].
