Crown Prosecutor Jobs Vacancy in Government Alberta Edmonton Jobs Details:
You will conduct prosecutions in several court locations in and near Edmonton, including Evansburg, Glenevis, Mayerthorpe, Morinville, Sherwood Park, Stony Plain, and St. Albert; as well as handling QB court cases in Edmonton. You will also assist the other 12 Regional Prosecution Offices in Alberta when needed as part of the Regional Response mandate of this office.
Reporting to the Chief Crown of ERRRO, you will use your strong decision making skills and work independently representing the Crown in trials, preliminary hearings as well as recommending and conducting summary conviction appeals.
With your strong knowledge of federal and provincial statutes, your responsibilities will include all aspects of prosecution including pre-charge consultation, advice to police agencies, determining appropriate charges, and conducting trials at all levels of court. In addition, you will consult with witnesses, defence counsel, community groups and other agencies. Using your excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will also prepare written materials including legal arguments, opinions, memoranda, provide advice and assistance to community agencies, and mentor young prosecutors. Some travel will be required.
It is recommended that applicants who have obtained educational credentials from outside of Canada and have not had them previously assessed, obtain an evaluation of their credentials from the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) -https://www.alberta.ca/iqas.aspx It is recommended that applicants include the assessment certificate from IQAS or any other educational assessment service as part of their application.
Legal Officer 3: $5,832.47 - $6,467.12 bi-weekly
Legal Officer 4: $6,337.94 - $6,970.31 bi-weekly
Classification and salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications.
