Coordinator Events Communications Jobs Vacancy in Friends Care Concord Jobs Details:

Friends of We Care is the Foodservice and Hospitality Industry’s charity of choice. Through a united effort from our supporters in a variety of fundraising and networking events, we seek to make a difference by raising funds to send kids with disabilities to accessible summer camps across Canada.

Purpose of the Position:
Working directly with the Executive Director and support staff, the Coordinator, Events & Communications will be responsible for managing the organization’s communication initiatives including its online and social media presence as well as the planning, managing, and execution of internal and third-party fundraising events. Please note, this is primarily a Marketing & Communications position.

Principal Responsibilities

Events:

  • Lead and coordinate the development, planning, execution, and wrap up of special events
  • Handle all venue logistics including research, facility reviews, space rental, contracts, price negotiations, menu selection, and set up
  • Solicit sponsorships and product donations to increase event revenue and decrease event expenses
  • Manage event budgets including registration and expense processing
  • Write presentation scripts and speeches for event MCs, ambassadors, etc.
  • Lead volunteer committees including organizing regularly scheduled meetings, assigning tasks, and following up with member responsibilities
  • Report and send post-event appreciation communications
  • Attend all We Care events and support third-party fundraising events, as required
  • Attend all Member meetings and Board of Director meetings as required, and prepare and distribute meeting minutes. Follow up on action items with respective committee members
  • Other duties as assigned

Communications:

  • Grow and manage Friends of We Care’s social media presence (posts, campaigns, etc.)
  • Update and maintain the organizations website with upcoming events and other charity news
  • Produce quarterly e-newsletter and other e-blasts, as required
  • Design and create attractive, professional event marketing materials (promotional posters, event signage, tickets, programs, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and the use of an appropriately insured reliable vehicle (vehicle will often be used for picking up and dropping off event materials)
  • Periodic evening and weekend work, as required
  • Physical effort and stamina required for lifting, loading and unloading vehicles
  • Some overnight, out-of-town/province travel required

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate (orally and in writing). French speaking and writing ability considered a very strong asset
  • Relevant post-secondary education in marketing, fundraising, event planning, volunteer management, or equivalent experience
  • Proven, successful experience with special events, managing volunteers and committees including:

o Ability to lead
o Experience chairing meetings
o Experience delegating
o Ability to work with senior level executives

  • Tech-savvy with an excellent understanding of and ability to learn new web/computer applications:

o Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
o Proficiency with Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
o Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suites (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
o Experience with Word Press and/or HTML website design and maintenance
o Experience with online event registration systems
o Experience with accounting software
o Ability to learn new systems quickly

  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Flexibility and agility – able to adapt to changing circumstances, with on-the-fly thinking and solutions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation skills and the ability to speak publicly
  • Ability to handle financial fundraising and sales transactions
  • An eye for design and a proficiency in the creation of marketing materials
