Job Description

Customer Service Representative

Public Works – Operations Support


This posting is for 1 regular, part-time position.


We are looking for an energetic, customer focused candidate who is looking to join our team in helping serve the residents of Peel.


You will be accountable for:

  • Being the front line contact for calls related to Water Quality, Water Efficiency, Environmental Education, and other Public Works programs and services
  • Adherence to the schedule and quality information
  • Providing our residents with an exceptional customer experience

Our service delivery business unit is the frontline contact for Region of Peel programs, services and other corporate wide initiatives.


The Public Works Call Centre operates on a 24 hour, 7 days per week, 365 days per year basis.


Responsibilities:

  • Respond tactfully and diplomatically to a large volume of incoming telephone calls in addition to an internal line and a direct line for Police and Fire
  • Monitor Alarms for Wastewater Flow Monitors, Long Term Care Elevators, Real Property Asset Management and the Health Department’s vaccine fridge’s and dispatch to the appropriate contact
  • Document and maintain accurate records in the appropriate system or database
  • Monitor four shared email inboxes and answer or direct to the appropriate contact for resolution
  • Adhere to corporate policies, practices, standards and other pertinent legislation such as MFIPPA, PHIPA, etc
  • Actively participate in team meetings
  • Complete a Central Dispatch function for the requests for service from one of the Operational Yards documented by Corporate Tier I Call Centre
  • Collaborative team player and be able to work independently
  • Provide administrative support to Waste Management. Process the requests for garbage tag orders and mail out information requests
  • Schedule appointments (tours, presentations, workshops, consultations) into multiple calendars on behalf of Internal Clients
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School diploma plus a minimum of one (1) year of customer service/call centre experience
  • Previous inbound call centre experience is preferred
  • Collaborative team player and be able to work independently
  • Strong keyboarding and data entry skills
  • Proficient in MS office Suites and computer savvy with technology
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written to deal with customer inquiries
  • Ability to work well under pressure ,problem solve and deal with stressful situations
  • Ability to assess calls, identify issues and respond quickly and appropriately
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must have strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change in a fast paced service delivery environment
  • Ability to exercise care and good judgment in correctly transferring calls

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton, ON

Hours of Work: Regular, Part-Time, roughly 17.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri various shifts between the hours of 7:00am to 9:00pm. Shifts vary in length between 4 and 7 hours.
