Your role

As Cash Management Administrative Support, you will be part of the Treasury and Risk Management team of the Finance group. You will provide specialized support to a number of departments across the corporation as well as interact with our banking and financial services providers. Work is only subject to general review, so there is opportunity for independent judgment and decision-making within the parameters of established operating procedures. As needed, your work may also involve coordinating the activities of others inside or outside the unit.

Please note that the schedule for the position is from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Key tasks:
  • Reconcile main corporate bank accounts on a daily basis.
  • Investigate discrepancies to ensure that there are no errors or fraudulent activities in the Corporate bank accounts.
  • Ensure all banking and cash management transactions are complete, accurate and timely and prepare journal entries for approval.
  • Prepare and document monthly bank reconciliations for all corporate bank accounts.
  • Prepare the daily cash forecast by accumulating relevant data from a variety of sources (ex SAP reports, internal emails).
  • Create, update and maintain large and complex spreadsheets - for example, those supporting finance, banking and investment transactions and/or systems interfacing with external agencies.
  • Adapt spreadsheets to changing requirements.
  • Provide advice and guidance to users to ensure that they derive maximum benefit from the information and systems available.
  • Compile information and prepare reports, either as part of routine reporting requirements or in response to special requests from within or without the unit, department or operation.
  • Investigate departmental or administrative problems within area of expertise.
  • Research and compile information and data to arrive at a solution and either implement, if within accepted parameters, or recommend to the appropriate level of authority.
  • Examine financial reports, activity reports or other similar documents (including banking and investment transactions and worksheets) to identify errors or discrepancies and takes necessary action within established parameters to resolve the matters. Action includes initiating or verifying corrections to banking errors or preparing, entering and posting SAP journal vouchers.
  • Administer complex processes dealing with payment issues such as stop payments and authorizations to replace cheques.

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Graduation from Community College or the equivalent, preferably a college diploma in Accounting, a university degree (B. Com.) or working towards CPA designation.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in business banking. services, either working in the banking sector or as a bank client.
  • Bilingualism (written and oral) required.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of Windows-based software (i.e. Excel, Word) and bank webportals.
  • Knowledge of SAP is an asset, General Ledger and Bank modules in particular.
  • Familiarity with CBC Shared Services operations and CBC legacy systems (i.e. VIP or Local Payroll) would be an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of foreign exchange operations as it applies to purchasing foreign currencies and to recording accounting transactions.
  • Basic knowledge of short-term investments as it applies to purchasing treasury bills and to recording accounting transactions.
  • Analytical thinker, precise and detail-oriented.
  • Well-organized.
  • Must show initiative, creativity and judgment in analyzing situations.
  • Ability to work comfortably and efficiently with senior management and personnel from financial institutions.
  • Must be capable of working independently and effectively as a team member.
