Disability Services Coordinator Human Worker Jobs Vacancy in Government Alberta Grande Prairie Jobs Details:

This position is meant for a person who finds reward in connecting with a broad range of people, is enthusiastic about challenging and dynamic work, enjoys problem solving, and wants to make a positive difference in the lives of persons with disabilities. You will assist families, children, and adults with disabilities to identify and obtain required supports and services which will enhance their well-being, social participation, and assist in maximizing their independence. Activities will include service design and planning, completion of family and child assessment of need and the review of an individual's progress towards outcomes, including an evaluation of the appropriateness of the services provided. Utilizing a team approach with a variety of community partners, you will provide information and support to individuals, their guardians and families.

As the ideal candidate, your communication and interpersonal skills will be critical as you interact daily with clients, parents, guardians, community associations and service providers to identify and address short and long term needs for individuals with developmental disabilities. Working within legislation and provincial policies, you will take initiative and demonstrate strong planning skills in order to access current programs and service models. You must have flexibility in your schedule as this position may be required to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, or Disability Studies, with a minimum of two years of related experience is required. Related experience includes planning and/or arranging services and supports for: individuals with disabilities, and/or children, and/or other vulnerable individuals. Case management experience is preferred. Experience working with persons with disabilities to promote their independence and community inclusion will be considered an asset. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification level and salary.

The following equivalencies may be considered: A related Master's degree plus one year of related experience; or related diploma plus three years of related experience.

For individuals who have obtained educational credentials from outside of Canada, it is recommended that you obtain an evaluation of your credentials from the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) and include the IQAS assessment certificate as part of your application. Salary

$2,532.32 - $3,273.50 Bi-weekly

The successful candidate will be required to have a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle that meets the requirements of the Region as travel will be required.

Successful applicants who possess a MSW, BSW or Diploma in Social Work are required to register with, and maintain registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

The final candidate for this position will be asked to undergo an academic check, intervention record check and provide a suitable security screening.
