The YMCA also operates a stand-alone childcare centre in Quarry Park to serve 348 children… and we are only just getting started. In partnership with the City of Calgary, we will expand our impact operating new facilities Shane Homes YMCA in Rocky Ridge and Seton. These amazing new spaces will help us reach more people through our passionate volunteers, members, and staff.

Northeast Youth Worker - Alternative Suspension

Start Date: Immediate
Salary: $40,152.00/year

What qualifications are we looking for? At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals.
The successful candidate will have the following;
· Post-secondary education in social work or other related fields (psychology, specialized education, sociology, criminology, etc.)
· Have 2 to 3 years of experience in youth intervention
· Ability to work per a flexible schedule
· Excellent administrative abilities
· Current Standard First Aid and CPR
· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
· Three professional references
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary? The Youth Worker will:
· Intervene with secondary school students on an individual basis and in a group setting
· Facilitate group workshops daily on topics related to the issues faced by program participants (anger management, responsibility, bullying, etc.)
· Supervise and support students with their assigned schoolwork
· Maintain strong partnerships with schools that refer students to the program
· Communicate and build relationships with students’ families
· Manage case files and data entry into the programs’ national database
· Draft annual reports and provide statistics on program results at the end of the school year, and periodically at the request of program management
· Complete general administrative duties
· Adhere to the YMCA Child Protection Policies and Procedures
· Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy in both specific position and Association, and participate in the Annual Campaign and/or other fundraising events
Be based out of the Saddletowne YMCA in Northeast Calgary
