Sports Information Assistant Jobs Vacancy in University Ottawa Ottawa Jobs Details:

Enhances the University’s reputation by coordinating activities in support of communication and media relations strategies for varsity sports programs. Helps develop print, media and web content according to the plans developed by the sports information officer. Improves archiving for Gee-Gees varsity programs through research and stewardship.

Essential Qualifications
Undergraduate degree, preferably in communications, public relations or sport management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in sports information, journalism, public relations or sport management, preferably with a university athletics department
Knowledge of the various Gee-Gees varsity programs
Experience working with OUA/RSEQ/U SPORTS requirements (an asset)
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English with experience writing newspaper-style articles
Experience in assisting with communication plan operations and working under deadlines
Experience interviewing subjects for profiles or reaction pieces
Strong interpersonal skills, with diplomacy and tact
Experience in using computer software, such as word processors, spreadsheets, presentation software, video editing, Photoshop and database applications
Availability to work predominantly non-traditional hours during peak periods of the competitive season (August to April)
Bilingualism — English: spoken and written (required); French: spoken (an asset)
