Manager - People & Culture

Role Outline:

Monstercat is an exciting high growth music company that empowers a creative and passionate community through innovation. Our talented creatives drive this mission with their unprecedented commitment to engage with our fans and service music artists. Monstercat is currently seeking a progressive, forward thinking and likeminded Human Resource Manager to join our team to support and drive our commitment. The Manager – People & Culture will help design, implement and administer innovative, industry-leading HR programs, policies and practices.

Key Accountabilities

  • Talent Acquisition, Development and Performance Management

  • Work across multi-functional departments in support of business impact such as strategic talent management, compensation planning, performance management, training & development and compliance

  • Manage the Performance Improvement Process ensuring effective coaching, proper documentation, timely follow up and outcome

  • Present strategic guidance and recommendations for employee development, succession planning, internal mobility and retention of high potential talent

  • Ensure policies, procedures and HR programs are consistently administered, aligned with organizational goals and are in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements and laws.

  • Supervise and provide learning opportunities for Human Resource Coordinator

  • Provide your senior manager with a “pulse” of the overall engagement of employees and work with managers to ensure retention of valued associates.

Core Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, communication, and consulting skills

  • Must be comfortable presenting and speaking in meetings with all levels present

  • Thoughtful leadership and strong management capabilities. Curiosity coupled with the ability to assess a situation quickly and ask the right questions

  • Skilled at identifying, assessing and clearly communicating findings, patterns, themes, and issues with recommendations

  • Strong analytical skills with an acute attention to detail to review contracts

  • Relevant experience gained within creative industries environment preferred

Qualifications and Requirements

  • University degree and 5+ years of diverse Human Resources experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian labor laws, benefits and employment practices

  • Demonstrated experience aligning HR goals and objectives with the business goals, combined with a strong ability to translate business needs into HR solutions

  • Strong employee relations experience handling complex performance management issues

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Bamboohr

  • Curious to learn more about the music industry and emerging technologies
