This position is located in downtown Montreal, QC.
BroadSign is currently looking for its next talent: a highly creative, obsessively detail-oriented, self-driven and experienced Visual Designer. By definition, you’ve got a knack for use of type, space, image and color. You also have a strong interest in user interfaces. You keep yourself updated with latest technologies and are well informed on current design trends happening around the world. You long to work with a creative product team consisting of developers, product designer and product owners but you’re perfectly capable of working independently when needed and with little supervision. You are able to receive direction from team members and can explain your design decisions with clarity and effectiveness.
In addition, you are proactive, flexible, work well under pressure and always respect your deadlines. Your friends wouldn’t necessarily describe you as a social bee but you like to hang out because at BroadSign, we are quick to throw a party. You value a casual work atmosphere and don’t take yourself too seriously. You roll up your sleeves when needed to meet tight deadlines but do enjoy a relaxing moment playing video games or a thrilling Foosball game.
You'll be tasked with building digital products, with plenty of technical challenges and opportunities to learn as you go. Our Visual Designer will act as a permanent member of a scrum team, working closely with development and product management teams to help facilitate the creation, adaptation, and implementation of design work on a variety of projects. He or she understands technical limitations voiced by developers but works relentlessly to design great consumer-facing products that everyone will want to use.
So, your main responsibilities will be:
Producing final visual assets (Designs, Style Guide, Svg, Font Icons, to the Dev Team) for use by the development team
Creating design guidelines for company various products
UI research to create new product including Moodboard, Animation, Design Components & Competitors
Producing and extending design across a variety of platforms like web, mobile or desktop app
Participating in design workshops with the product team to help define and sketch new potential features and products
Adhere to brand guidelines and discuss with our marketing team to ensure that all interface design align with the visual brand without sacrificing usability
Sharing your work to get feedback and supporting agile iterative workflow
Teach Design Theory to dev team & synchronize with them about the product and where the UI should be
A successful candidate will have:
3 to 5 years designing User Interfaces (UI) elements for web or applications; UX & UI knowledge is an asset
Experience and knowledge of current trends in design patterns
Demonstrated understanding of design skills and principles as well as an eye for subtle detail (sharing a portfolio of design work is an obligatory)
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative, deadline-driven environment.
Strong organizational & presentation skills
Must be fully Bilingual (English and French) both orally and verbally
Bachelor or College Degree in Graphic Arts or related field
Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision & other similar tools
Experience theming CMS's and platforms such as WordPress an asset
