Civil Engineer (Intermediate Water Resources Engineer)

We are seeking a Civil Engineer in our Guelph, Ontario office to join our growing team. This is an exciting leadership and growth opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer to deliver civil engineering and water resources related projects. The Civil Engineer will bring proven experience in infrastructure design and construction management of small to mid-sized projects. The preferred candidate will have progressive experience leading projects for a diverse client base, design oversight of junior staff, and coordinate with other technical disciplines.
The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of projects with responsibilities as follows:
Project management, functional, and detailed design for civil and water resources infrastructure including; stormwater management, site servicing, roads, stream rehabilitation and natural channels
Construction tendering and contract administration
Coordination of design team activities, mentoring and leadership of junior team members, and ongoing relationships with other business leaders
Collaboration with private and public sector clients, approval agencies, sub-consultants, and subcontractors.
Active participation in maintaining Matrixs strong safety culture
Prepare technical reports and/or construction documents (plans and specifications)
Assist in the preparation of proposals and technical reports, technical specifications for engineering designs and cost estimates
Coordinate with other team members including survey, CAD and GIS staff.
Education, Experience, Technical Skills:
Bachelor of Science degree (or BEng) in Civil or Water Resources Engineering
Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Ontario, or eligible for licensing immediately
10 or more years of civil/water/hydraulic engineering consulting experience
Experience in the design and construction of municipal infrastructure projects, report preparation, and contract document preparation and tendering
Understanding of open channel and pipe flow hydraulics and stormwater management system design
Proven success in project proposal preparation and presentations
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Possess a valid Class G drivers license and a clean driving record.
