The Program Planner position is responsible for the pre-design phase of a project which includes managing and leading staff and consultants and coordinates funds and time required for the planning and programming of City of Calgary facilities. Primary duties include:
Responsible for the pre-design phase of a project which includes stakeholder engagement, site analysis, space programming, concept development, construction cost analysis and value engineering.
Identify and set project priorities and ensure that client Business Units, stakeholders and the Corporation are moving toward common goals and outcomes.
Organize, assess, recommend and develop procedures applicable to each project. Work collaboratively, creatively, and analytically with senior management and both internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and requirements that support business goals.
Responsible for leadership and development of new programs, processes and systems to drive performance and address client Business Unit needs.
Identify, prioritize, and then authorize all capital projects or programs for a portfolio of facilities. This includes evaluating, planning and implementing projects and strategies that facilitate the cultural change essential to maximize workforce performance across a portfolio of buildings.
Degree in interior design, architecture, urban planning, and planning or related disciplines along with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Proficiency in IWMS (In-Vehicle Monitoring) Systems and CAD software such as BIM (REVIT) and working knowledge of facility management software (e.g. ARCHIBUS) would be assets.
Report writing, project management, leadership, facilitation, negotiation/mediation training would also be considered assets.
Success in this position requires well developed presentation and communication skills and strong problem solving, personal and teamwork skills.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $41.44 - 55.40 per hour (2017 Rates)
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with one day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
