Arts Project Coordinator

Part-time (28 hours bi-weekly)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Curate and install rotating and permanent Exhibits
  • Design rotating exhibits for Cultural Hub using Baycrest permanent Art Collection and donations or loans
  • Work with Culture & Arts team to maximize use of the collection
  • Liaise with Foundation, artists and their representatives, galleries
  • Manage enquiries and actively seek new art acquisitions appropriate for the collection
  • Schedule selection and installation times with staff
  • Prepare and install scheduled appointments for public spaces, cultural hub, offices and meeting rooms
  • Produce written copy as required for exhibits

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or Design discipline required
  • 5+ years’ experience working in art gallery, museum or public studio
  • Experience working with high end donors, artists, art collectors
  • Experience within a hospital or healthcare environment an asset
  • Minimum three years’ experience in hands-on installation of art: preparing and organizing tools and equipment required for this work
  • Working knowledge of budgets
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of museum practices including object care and handling, packing and movement of artworks, appropriate display techniques and conservation principles
  • Highly interpersonal skills, proven skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated experience working a multi-disciplinary team
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in physically demanding situations, including heavy lifting and working at heights
  • Good negotiation skills and ability to represent Baycrest with diplomacy
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
