Consultant Jobs Vacancy in Covenant Health Alberta Edmonton Jobs Details:
Reporting to Legal Counsel & Manager, Labour Relations, the Consultant, Essential Services and Negotiations, will play an integral role in the development and implementation of an Essential Services Strategy that ensures service and staffing levels are maintained to meet the needs of the patients/clients that Covenant Health serves, as well as meeting the legislated Essential Services requirements. The position will be responsible for translating the Essential Services Strategy into tactical actions, including negotiation of Essential Services Agreements, to ensure an efficient and successful implementation. In addition to negotiation of the Essential Services Agreements, the Consultant, will represent Covenant Health as the lead spokesperson in collective bargaining with one of 12 bargaining units. As the primary point of contact for Essential Services, the Consultant will coordinate with and support the identified subject matter experts from clinical/non-clinical operations in the development of site/department essential services plans. Ensuring the services being maintained are consistent with the expectations of the legislation and are in line with Covenant Health’s essential services principles, and appropriate staffing levels are negotiated to maintain services, in both an acute and continuing care setting. In addition, the position will liaise with internal and as external stakeholders (AHS, other health care providers and the Government of Alberta) as needed, in relation to essential services. The Consultant will also act as Covenant Health's lead spokesperson at various tables in collective bargaining. As lead spokesperson, the Consultant: Ensures that organizational requirements are well-represented. Facilitates effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and the development of positive relationships.

Minimum education required: Bachelor's degree with a focus in Human Resources Management or Labour Relations.
Additional Required Qualifications:
5 to 7 years Labour Relations experience in a unionized environment. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Experience negotiation with unions. Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate with individuals at various levels both internal to the organization and external (i.e. unions and external partners). Demonstrated ability to maintain composure in high stress situations. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Health Care experience would be considered an asset. Knowledge of the Essential Services legislation and Albert labour relations environment. Human Resources designation would be considered an asset.
