The McGill University and Génome Québec Innovation Centre is a world class research facility for genomics and proteomics and provides the scientific community with reliable comprehensive services. Renowned for its expertise in complex genetic disorders, the Centre is an essential resource for many research initiatives. It is located at McGill University. It employs approximately 100 researchers and technicians.
The Centre is currently seeking a programmer to fill a vacancy in its Nanuq development team.
As a member of the Nanuq development team, you will work on designing, developing and optimizing the various components of the project. More specifically, you will be involved in:
The SCRUM (AGILE methodology) development of various Nanuq modules
Developing system functionalities using existing development tools and standards
Ensuring the integration and quality of deliverables (tests)
Implementing Quality Control/Producing applications at our various facilities
College or university degree in computer science
3 to 5 years of professional experience in a 3-tier web application development environment
Significant experience in object-oriented design and programming (Java)
Web design skills an asset
PERL development experience an asset
Solid experience with Web application architectures and open source frameworks (Wicket Spring, web services web, Tomcat, Maven, Struts, etc.)
Experience in programming relational databases and persistence tools (Hibernate, SQL, Ibatis, MySql)
Motivated, dynamic, conscientious, organized, sense of initiative and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary environment
Positive attitude and ability to work in an open environment
Ability to easily deal with change (constantly evolving environment)
Strong interest in team work
