Join the award-winning Toronto Public Service as a Technical Trainee within the City Clerk's Office.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Technical Trainee will be responsible for the following:
Major Responsibilities:
  • Assists in site inspections and surveys. Takes photos. Delivers notices. Records data.
  • Assists with marking and measuring.
  • Assists with collecting, organizing and presenting of information/field notes/sketches/reports from field investigations and site visits.
  • Completes timely and accurate data entry into an electronic data repository.
  • Assists with maintaining equipment.
  • Assists in performing technical tests.
  • Assists with collecting samples for others to analyze.
  • Assists with indexing, searching, retrieving and filing of records.
  • Assist with administrative responsibilities of the business unit such as; responding to inquiries (in person, over the phone or via email), photocopying/faxing, sorting, collating, etc.
  • Provides support and assistance with day-to-day coordination of the Voter Data Services portfolio.
  • Assists with the preparation and quality assurance of assembling the Voters' Lists.
  • Provides front counter assistance.
  • Travels to various locations.
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program in Information Technology, Building Sciences or other similar program area.
  • Experience working in a customer service environment, responding to customer enquiries and dealing directly with staff and the public in person and by phone.
  • Experience with various technical hardware (i.e., Laptops, Tablets, Desktop PC, Scanners, Wireless Networks).
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. MS Access, Word, Excel and Outlook).
You must also have:
  • Knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform office duties such as creating and formatting documents, filing and answering phone inquiries.
Additional Information:
  • Staff must be available to work from July to December 2018.
