The ICP: ensures that effective prevention and control activities are implemented that are specific to the practice setting, the population served, and to the continuum of care integrates surveillance activities and findings into the AHS plan for continuous quality improvement contributes to the education of all levels of health care providers facilitates change though interpretation and application of standards and provides best practice recommendations across the spectrum of the organization with the goal of improving patient outcomes and preventing healthcare-associated infections.

To qualify for this position, you have completed a Baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline or equivalent. In addition, the ICP must be licensed with a governing body (CARNA, ACMLT, etc.) or have an advanced degree in a health related field. You also have a minimum of 5 years related healthcare experience OR experience and proficiency in two of the following: 1. Patient care practice 2. Microbiology and infectious diseases 3. Epidemiology and biostatistics. Completion of an IPAC-Canada Infection Control course or other courses related to infection prevention and control and a commitment to complete and maintain Certification in Infection Control within 2 years is required. The successful applicant will possess strong communication and analytical skills as well as be proficient using information systems and other related applications. This position requires a vehicle for business use. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel are required.
