The successful candidate will provide administrative support services to Probation Officers within the South Youth Probation Office. You will prepare reports for the courts from hand-written material as well as database entry. In addition, this position involves telephone and reception duties, taking messages and providing responses to telephone and in-person inquiries, handling and distribution of mail, preparation of files on new cases according to policy; maintenance of case files, re-opening, closing, and transferring of files. Utilizing a mainframe computer and related software you will enter and update information as necessary.
As this position requires the handling of information that is of a sensitive nature, a high degree of confidentiality and diplomacy is required. Your efficiency, combined with strong organizational skills, will ensure your success in managing multiple tasks and timelines in this high volume environment. Teamwork, flexibility, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines will assist you in this position.
High School Diploma and at least one year related experience in an office environment is required. Experience working with Microsoft Office and database systems is required. Government/public sector experience along with knowledge of applicable government programs (ORCA and JOIN) is an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$1,536.57 - $1,869.84 bi-weekly
Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. This job opening may be used to fill future vacancies in various locations within the Government of Alberta. The interviews will be conducted at the South Probation Office located in the University of Alberta area and therefore, street level parking will be limited.
