As a Labourer II you will perform the following tasks:
Operate and being responsible for the minor maintenance of one or more of the following types of equipment: riding grass mower, weed-eater, rototiller, riding snow blower and broom, large tractor and front end loader, chainsaw, water pump, generator, plow truck, toolcat, and push lawn mower water truck
Construction and repair of facilities such as park furniture, fences and backstops
Horticultural work including weeding, shrub pruning, planting and watering
Turf mowing and maintenance including
Spring sweeping operations
Sports-field maintenance including leveling of baseball diamonds and field rejuvenation activities
Snow removal and maintenance of outdoor ice surfaces and skating rinks
Park Servicing: emptying garbages, cleaning washrooms, sanitation dealing with the public.
Maintain simple records
Perform other related duties as required
Completion of the 10th grade and one year of related experience in Parks
Experience operating equipment such as Toro workman (utility vehicle), tractors, toolcats ride on grass cutting equipment, or other related equipment of similar size and complexity considered an asset
Required to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently
Some knowledge of safety precautions and hazards involved with sports facilities and parks maintenance
Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods of time under various weather conditions.
Standard First Aid Certificate
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position. Must pass NSC training
