Reporting to the Supervisor Parks Operations, the Project Coordinator performs technical and administrative work in coordinating design, construction and development projects in Parks Operations. The successful candidate will coordinate construction and development projects; prepare work plans, cost estimates, reports, budgets, project specifications and related documents; monitor project expenditures; conducts field inspections; liaise and consult with a variety of internal and external contacts; analyze data and prepare recommendations on development projects; provide significant input into asset management plans based on life cycle analysis; prepare Terms of Reference and Requests for Proposals for selection of consultants and contractors and provide to Purchasing staff for bidding processing; review and evaluate submissions received and recommend hiring of consultants and contractors; oversee consultants’ work in development of project design and specifications; resolve minor disputes concerning contract interpretations, construction methods, standards and typical practices. Perform related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of a diploma program in building construction technology or landscape architecture including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus sound related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Considerable knowledge of methods, practices and materials used in construction of park buildings, landscape and infrastructure projects. Considerable knowledge of safety practices, regulations and requirements; of construction terms of reference and contracts including MMCD and CCDC2 documentation.. Ability to monitor project budgets, review project progress, and approve change orders and contract payments; to review and analyze construction documents, drawings and interpret plans, specifications, contracts and other information; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
