The By-Law Division of the Department of Planning, Development & Recreation is responsible to no less than fifteen By-Laws serving to preserve a quality of life to which every citizen of Cornwall is entitled. Included are By-Laws regulating noise, dogs, litter, property maintenance, pigeons and a parking and traffic By-Law in support of a paid parking program, together with parking regulations ensuring road safety, school zone safety, roadway snow clearing and similar.
The City of Cornwall is seeking a Municipal By-Law Enforcement Officer (MLEO) experienced in conflict resolution and possessing superior public relation skills with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy with the public.
Our candidates must possess a diploma or degree in Law Enforcement, Police Foundations or Criminology; Must have Ontario Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Certification or be eligible to complete the program; A minimum of two years of recent experience in a law enforcement role; Experience required in court litigation proceedings and the preparation of evidence including disclosure requests for evidence for court purposes; Basic level Microsoft Office applications; Familiarity with using automated parking ticket devices would be an asset; Class G Driver’s License in good standing; Excellent communication, conflict resolution, public relations and customer service skills; Experience dealing with confidential information. Bilingualism (English & French) will be considered an asset.
The City of Cornwall offers a competitive starting salary of $23.03 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit package.
