General Surgery 5S200 & Ortho 5S100 are currently seeking two (2) casual Clerk III's to join their team.
The clerk's responsibilities involve coordinating the orderly flow of patients and visitors in and out of the Department, reception and clerical activities within the Department and the dissemination and co-ordination of general information.
" Answer phone calls - relay messages, liaise between staff, physicians and public.
" Make appointments for diagnostic tests (internal/external), dispatch the corresponding requisitions and specimens to appropriate Departments and arrange patient escort if necessary.
" Book patient transport
" Transcribe physician's orders, fax med orders to pharmacy and order enter all other orders
" Write daily assignment sheet for next 24 hours under the direction of the Nurse Manager/Team Leader
" Answer family questions and accompany visitors to patient's bedside.
" Communication with Admitting and other areas in JBH regarding daily routines and bed flow if required.
" Facilitate Discharge order entry and discharge bed cleaning.
" Coordination of supply and other purchase orders when needed.
" Order supplies and stock charts and cupboards, file old sheets in charts, prepare discharged patient charts.
" Medical Terminology and Administration post-secondary education or equivalent knowledge gained through past experience required
" Clerical experience on a Surgical unit considered an asset.
" Excellent computer skills required with a demonstrated typing speed of 40 - 50 wpm
" Ability to transcribe orders is required
" An excellent telephone manner required
" Demonstrated excellent communication skills
" Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
" Working knowledge of Meditech and Team chimes considered an asset.
" Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment
" Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required
