Research Assistant New Jobs Vacancy in Centre For Addiction And Mental Health Toronto Jobs Details:
The Kimel Family Translational Imaging-Genetics Laboratory is a large multidisciplinary research laboratory dedicated to discovering the causes of severe mental illness and advancing treatments for severe mental illness. The focus of the laboratory is on combining brain imaging and genetics, brain imaging and brain stimulation, and brain imaging and clinical trials. The laboratory is located in the Research Imaging Centre.
Reporting to the head of the Kimel Family Lab, the Research Assistant will be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, engineers, and clinical researchers interested in understanding brain function and dysfunction. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for routine image data processing in a busy lab environment. The Research Assistant requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a variety of programs, as well as staff and internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: (i) sample accessioning, (ii) processing data from standard pipelines, (iii) data storage and backup, and (iv) assistance with maintenance of standard pipelines. General lab duties such as data entry, supplies inventory and ordering, and monitoring and maintaining equipment may also be required. The candidate will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 250 College Street.
The successful candidate will have completed at least three (3) years at a community college specializing in computer science, engineering, psychology, health sciences, or a related field and have one year of related experience working with data or related laboratory experience in a health sector environment. Demonstrated experience with linux platforms and basic coding languages data are required. Candidates will also have demonstrated ability to work with databases and will have literature review skills. Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic clinical/research team environment are essential. Candidates will possess the ability for self-directed learning/working, as well as collaboration and teamwork. The candidate will be detail oriented, well organized, with the ability to meet deadlines and to work independently with minimal supervision. Candidates require the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
Please Note: This full-time, contract position lasting one (1) year is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.
Salary Range: $22.47 to $27.71 per hour
