Raise The Grade Program Education Manager Jobs Vacancy in Albans Boys And Girls Club Toronto Jobs Details:

St. Alban’s Boys and Girls Club is seeking Education Managers to mentor young students needing academic support to help them to excel academically and strengthen their future opportunities in our Raise the Grade Program in our Jane and Finch and Weston Mount Dennis communities.

Raise the Grade Program Description

With the support of RBC and the Trillium Foundation, The Raise the Grade Program, aims at increasing academic skills, high school graduation rates and access to post-secondary education for youth. Raise the Grade will provide youth with the skills, tools and opportunities necessary to excel academically and secure their future success as productive, independent and contributing members of society.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help youth problem solve specific issues and barriers to achieving their goals
  • Engage youth by participating in community and school outreach
  • Help youth to explore their interests and plan their academic goals
  • Interview , hire, train adult volunteer mentors to work with the youth participants
  • Work with assigned youth on a weekly basis, assisting them with and including homework tutoring, life-skills, resume and cover letter building, and post-secondary scholarship applications
  • Develop and facilitate weekly small group activities focused on computers, technology, academics, homework, or careers
  • Guide youth through planned, RTG activities (E.G. e-learning modules and other curated resources, creating Personal Development Plans with youth and measuring achievements and progress, etc.)

Skills and Qualifications

  • a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or relevant experience
  • 2 to 3 years’ prior experience working with youth ages 13 to 19
  • 2-3 years of experience in providing training, workshops, or other educational experiences to youth and adult populations
  • Experience and knowledge base of E-portfolios, website design, and digital learning
  • Experience with data collection, program evaluation
  • Knowledge of/or experience in health promotion, advocacy, or public policy for youth
  • Knowledge of/or experience using youth or adult training/learning strategies
  • Experience working with diverse populations in various settings
  • First-Aid/CPR-C - valid before Training
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s license ( F Class preferable)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate well with patrons and community partners
  • Team player
  • Passionate, committed, resourceful, self-aware, patient and respectful about working with youth
  • Digital literacy skills including web design, WordPress, internet use, email communication, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Ability to work as a team with the Community Director or other Program Managers and other mentors to facilitate learning, growth and opportunity for participants
  • Boys and Girls Club experience an asset
  • High Five Certified- Principles of Healthy Childhood Development and Quest II trained an asset
