Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Tax, this candidate will be part of a dynamic tax team in our Calgary Corporate office that is responsible for the preparation of tax returns and income tax provisions, managing audits by various taxation authorities, performing research and providing tax advice for business transactions. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the
Lead the preparation of the Canadian and US tax provisions and analysis for external financial statement purposes
Lead the preparation of the Canadian and US corporate income tax returns and other related filings
Lead the preparation of the Canadian tax filings and compliance requirements for the company’s foreign investments
Lead Canadian international and US income tax audits
Lead, coordinate, and execute tax planning and reorganization initiatives
Understand and minimize the tax exposure resulting from the foreign affiliate structure and cross border transactions
Research issues and provide tax advice for business transactions and M&A activities
Assist in developing and implementing process improvements
Business/Accounting degree or equivalent
CPA designation with familiarity of the renewable energy industry preferred
Minimum 6 years of experience in tax and accounting.
Completion of the CICA In-depth Tax Program
A strong understanding of Canadian Corporate Income Tax, including Canada’s foreign tax regime
A strong understanding of accounting for income tax under IFRS
Working knowledge of US Corporate Income Tax preferred
Strong team player with the ability and willingness to assume a hands-on role
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment while working independently and meeting various deadlines
