The University Endowment Lands is a program in the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Local Government Division. UEL provides municipal-like services to a small community located between the University of British Columbia and the City of Vancouver. Services include the provision of public works (water, sanitary, storm, solid waste, sidewalk and road infrastructure), development services (planning and building construction regulation) and administration (permits, licences and bylaw enforcement). This position is intended to provide project management and technical support to all components of the program.
To provide civil and structural technical engineering and project management services for the University Endowment Lands. Projects may include major repairs, installation or upgrades to: underground services (water, sanitary, storm), surface works (roads, curbs, sidewalks, trails, street lighting, rain gardens) and boulevards, parks and facilities. In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation requirement as outlined below:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a technical diploma in a related field (i.e.: civil and structural, environmental engineering, survey geomatics), or equivalent.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as an Applied Science Technologist in British Columbia in an appropriate disciplinary field.
- Experience and understanding of GIS mapping systems.
- Experience in dealing with municipal processes and regulations.
- Experience with software used in a municipal setting including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, ACAD and GIS mapping.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in contract and/or project supervision.
- Minimum 1 years’ experience supervising staff.
- Valid BC driver’s licence minimum of Class 5.
- May be required to operate a variety of equipment.
- Must be physically fit and able to conduct field work outdoors in all weather conditions.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
